Modern American is passionate about the environment. We are a new Los Angeles based denim brand focused on sustainability and making the world a better place.

We offer comfortable, eco-friendly made blue jeans at an affordable price. We are committed to growing more than awareness by supporting causes we believe in and implementing change in today’s world. Because we’re tired of false advertising from brands claiming to be sustainable.

Let’s be honest. The fashion industry is one of the largest sources of pollution to our beloved oceans. Each year, the denim industry uses 1.3 trillion gallons of water for the dying of fabric alone. This number does not even take into account the amount of water needed to grow and process the cotton to make denim, nor the water used in home washing machines to maintain the life of the garment.

On average, the estimated amount of water needed to grow, dye and process the cotton for just one pair of jeans ranges from 500-1,800 gallons of water.

Why settle for average? Modern American is committed to changing the denim industry, one pair of jeans at a time. Because both you and our planet deserve so much better.

A MODERN APPROACH.

It’s all in the details. Trust us, every step counts. It is exactly this reason that we have based our denim production on minimal impact to the planet and finding ways both small and large scale to reduce our carbon footprint in every possible way.

All of our jeans are designed and developed in Los Angeles, California with manufacturing facilities throughout North America.

We only work with ethical suppliers and manufacturers to create a jean made with integrity, so our customers can not only feel good IN what they are wearing, but ABOUT what they are wearing.

Our denim is made from 100% USA Grown cotton, thoughtfully prepared with reduced use of chemicals and made less than two hours away from our sewing facilities, allowing us to further reduce our carbon footprint.

Our state of the art “water-less washing machines” allow for the utilization of 70% recycled water, drastically reducing the amount of water used in the washing process. Additionally, our “water-less aging process” uses up to 80% less water than traditional washing and aging processes.

All patches, labels and trims are created out of 100% recycled components.
